A registered nurse with critical care expertise will play a vital role in delivering top-tier patient care within a busy intensive care environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to apply specialized skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and multidisciplinary collaboration while following established safety and care protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct timely, thorough patient assessments on admission and reassess as needed to address physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Develop, review, and update individualized care plans reflecting patient condition changes and clinical data.
- Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 Rights, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse effects.
- Perform treatments and procedures in compliance with hospital policies, sterile techniques, and patient privacy standards.
- Document all patient care activities, including assessments, medication effects, pain management, and discharge planning accurately and legibly.
- Educate patients and families using evidence-based resources tailored to their individual needs.
- Interpret diagnostic data and intervene appropriately, ensuring timely communication with physicians and healthcare team members using SBAR format.
- Adhere to patient safety initiatives, infection control policies, and National Patient Safety Goals.
- Manage critical care equipment such as bedside cardiac monitors and pressure monitors and utilize protocols for sepsis, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and more.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary care planning and follow early mobility and sedation management protocols.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current RN license with critical care (ICU) experience.
- Proficiency in medication administration and monitoring high-risk medications.
- Ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and use specialty beds.
- Strong knowledge of infection control, emergency response procedures, and hospital safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within healthcare teams.
