1099 locums contract

Schedule: 4/10hr shifts per week (630a-5p) w 30min lunch break

Worksite Setting: Inpatient

Position Description

Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistant – Licenses/Certifications/Requirements: Board Certified NCCPA, CT license, DEA/CSR, BLS, ACLS, 2+ years of ortho experience, graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program, Connecticut General Statutes. (Must obtain prior to start of employment), First Assist experience in the OR.

Scope of Work: 5-15 patients per shift; 21% adults, 12% geriatrics, 2% Peds, 65% Medicare/Medicaid

• Evaluates, assesses patient illness/injuries

• Performs physical examinations, and special examinations

• Takes medical histories; develops plans of care; intervenes in crisis situations or patient deterioration

• Provides routine and illness care; orders medications; orders diagnostic tests and evaluates results

• Assumes responsibility for patient follow-up, coordination, and referrals to other health care providers as necessary

• Maintains patient health information records

• May develop policies/procedures; participates in or designs changes in the system of care delivery

• May participate in clinical research

• Provides patient counseling/education

• Participates in medical student and health professional teaching

• Acts as a clinical consultant to peers and other health care professionals

• Assist with surgeries as first assist

• Performs related duties as required.
