Job Summary:

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is looking for an Electronics Technician to join our team of outstanding professionals installing Electronic and Technical Security Systems in the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Desert Southwest (DSW) & Rocky Mountain (RMR) Regions. These regions require upgrades to the Physical Access Control System (PACS) at electrical substations, switchyards, and facilities throughout the DSW Region. Apply today!

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as an Electronics Technician comfortable with working both independently or with a small team.

• Work with federal agencies on the migration, upgrades, and installation of physical security infrastructure at various electrical substation facilities.

• Responsible for installing electronic and Technical Security Systems to meet DoD and DoS specific guideline and requirements.

• Read, interpret, and draw electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics.

• Follow strict installation wiring guidelines and read and interpret building construction plans (blueprints).

• Use basic test equipment and the prepare site test data and documentation.

• Must be detailed orientated, and self-motivated as work is performed in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Public Trust.

• 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and servicing LENEL hardware and software.

• 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Physical Access Control (PACS), Internet Protocol (IP) video surveillance systems and other security systems.

• Understanding of National Electric Code (NEC) requirements and practices such as grounding and electrical safety.

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent or have completed a military basic and advanced electronic or communication technician courses. In lieu of military training must have at least 2 years of technical experience with residential or commercial installation of electronics/electrical systems.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe Acrobat.

• Must be a US Citizen with a current and valid Driver’s License.

• Familiar with and use of test equipment such as multimeters and cable testers (. Fluke, Klein, Ideal).

• Must be familiar with the preparation of site test data and documentation.

• Must have the ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment, be detailed orientated, and self-motivated.

• Must have strong verbal communication skills and have the ability to work independently or under limited supervision.

• Must have the ability to install and bend EMT conduit.

• Able to perform maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of security wiring & power circuits.

• Be familiar with and have a working knowledge of a multitude of systems including but not limited to:

• DoD and DoS Security Systems and requirements.

• Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems such as Lenel, Software House, Milestone.

• IP CCTV Surveillance Systems such as Milestone.

• Mechanical and electromechanical locking systems (electronic strikes, locks, mag’s, .

• Experience as a technician with installation of electronics/electrical systems including, but not limited to:

• Intrusion Detection Systems.

• Access Control Systems.

• Closed Circuit Television.

• Security Cameras.

• Intercom Systems.

• Mass Notification Systems.

• Conduit Installation.

• Low Voltage Electrical Systems.

• Travel Requirements:

• Road Warrior - expected travel is to exceed 75%.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, & kneel up to 75% of the time.

• Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and visual acuity (depth perception).

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

• Communicating with others to exchange information.

• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

• Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), Inside or Outside / Noise levels.
