Mechanical Engineer — Manufacturing (Confidential Company)
A growth-oriented manufacturing company in the Kansas City area is seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer to support production, improve processes, and help sustain highly engineered equipment used in laboratory and industrial environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the work, solving problems on the floor, and collaborating across teams.
You’ll partner with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain while helping to improve product reliability, documentation, and overall manufacturing performance.
What You’ll Do
Provide day‑to‑day engineering support to manufacturing operations
Troubleshoot mechanical and assembly issues on the production floor
Update and optimize drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
Design fixtures, jigs, and tools to improve efficiency and repeatability
Support product changes and improvements in coordination with global engineering resources
Analyze production data and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in testing, validation, and root‑cause problem solving
Promote safety, lean, and 5S best practices throughout the facility
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
2–5 years in a manufacturing or product engineering role
Strong mechanical fundamentals and understanding of manufacturing processes
Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience creating technical documentation and engineering change processes
Comfortable working on the production floor and troubleshooting issues real‑time
Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
Nice to Have
Background with sheet metal, plastics, airflow, or light electronics integration
Knowledge of lean / 5S and continuous improvement tools
