About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support enterprise-level cloud strategy and modernization initiatives for our client, Cognizant. This role will focus on designing, developing, and managing scalable and secure cloud solutions that enable high-performance, resilient, and cost-optimized environments.
As a Cloud Architect, you will lead cloud migration efforts, define architecture standards, guide engineering teams, and ensure best practices across security, automation, and infrastructure-as-code. Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Lead and oversee cloud migration projects, including assessments, planning, execution, and optimization.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, security, DevOps, product) to ensure alignment with business and technical objectives.
- Develop architecture diagrams, best-practice documentation, and technical standards to support cloud adoption.
- Evaluate business requirements and translate them into secure, efficient cloud solutions.
- Maintain strong governance around cloud security, compliance, and resiliency frameworks.
- Leverage automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Deployment Manager, etc.) to streamline deployments and operations.
- Monitor cloud systems and optimize performance, cost, and security posture.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of hands-on experience as a Cloud Architect or senior cloud engineer.Strong expertise across GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, GKE, VPC, IAM, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, etc.).Deep knowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, and compliance controls.Demonstrated experience leading cloud migration and modernization initiatives.Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Deployment Manager, Ansible).Strong background in automation, CI / CD, networking fundamentals, and system design.Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications
GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification (or equivalent).Experience in large enterprise environments or consulting organizations.Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures.
