Verdex Construction is looking for an Assistant Estimator to join our Estimating team to assist us in our mission of "Building Something Better".

Job Summary

An Assistant Estimator supports the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for various projects.

Essential Functions

Analyzes requirement documents, floor plans, drawings, specifications, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project.

Determines what factors of production will influence the cost of the floor installation.

Prepares material and labor estimates for the floor installation.

Develops and maintaining relationships with contractors, architects, and other estimators.

Generates bids for contractors.

Uses bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis.

Presents prepared estimates to management.

Maintains an accurate, current database cost codes of accounts for historical data.

Review Company projects and estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate.

Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational symposia; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, etc.

Satisfactory completion of appropriate corporate training as related to the position and / or department.

Contributes to overall achievement by accomplishing related tasks and demonstrating characteristics that exemplify team building and support.

Requirements & Qualifications

1-3 years relevant experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Education

Preferred four (4) year degree in a construction related curriculum or equivalent field experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
