Overview
Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations and distributive activities within the pharmacy to ensure safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients. The manager will work within the pharmacy leadership team to develop and execute department strategic and operational plans within budgetary targets and collaborate with other department leaders on process quality measurement and improvement initiatives. The manager will lead a team of pharmacists, technicians, and interns, managing various personnel functions and will ensure the department follows all federal, state, and local regulations.
What you will do
- Monitors / supports personal and departmental productivity to meet needs of department / Center, i.e., flexing hours, shift / assignment changes. Completes or oversees staffing schedules to ensure sufficient staffing. Review and makes recommendations to published schedules and activities as evidenced by the following criteria : Meets weekend, off shift, and holiday staffing requirements. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of payroll entries and work schedules to minimize payroll adjustments. Reports to work on time, is dependable and reliable, and assists to seek replacements for staffing needs of any type. Responds with flexibility to changes, adapts to varying work assignments to deliver services in an effective manner.
- Supervisory role for ensuring inventory management best practices are taught and staff is competent. Spot checks behind technical staff to make sure good inventory management is being performed (ie. Rotating drug inventory, 90 day removals, 90 day expiring medications)
- Responsible for participation in continuous quality improvement activities regarding the prescribing, dispensing, storage, administration, and monitoring of medications in the facilities and ensuring pharmacy / facility compliance. Assists in orchestration of management of shortages within the facility
- Successfully completes annual state and facility (CBL) requirements for mandatory competencies within required time frames.
- Responsible for oversight of nursing unit and department focused medication area inspections. Inspections completed within all areas monthly and documented appropriately.
- Demonstrates the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care and facility needs for medication management. Actively participates in facility based committees in the directors absence or as delegated.
- Manager is able to perform all operational duties within the department. Covers shifts as needed in staffing shortages.
Manages personnel functions including scheduling, hiring, training, performance appraisal, disciplinary actions, and staff development.
Responsible for oversight of technician and pharmacist operational competence. Manager ensures that all personnel files are kept up to date with competencies documented in a timely manner. Any communication summaries are completed as appropriate.Actively engages staff, provides effective coaching / feedback, and holds staff accountable. Builds trust and encourages collaboration. Effectively manages conflict between team members and encourages effective communication. Addresses morale concerns and promotes a strong resilient team. Focuses on staff development and growth.Partner with pharmacy leaders to ensure compliance with USP standards, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DNV, DEA, DEQ and other regulatory bodies. Maintains adequate documentation to meet regulatory requirements.Qualifications

Doctoral Degree, Doctorate of Pharmacy (Required) orBachelors Degree, Pharmacy (Required)Experience
