The Division of Business and Community Services at Holyoke Community College is seeking part-time instructors to teach in an innovative, intensive 5-month noncredit Medical Assistant training program for a local employer. Students will be paid employees taking 32 hours per week of classwork. Instructors will prepare students to take and pass the RMA exam. With assistance, instructors will develop curricula and plan course content, provide lectures and hands-on instruction, and evaluate training effectiveness so that students learn the specific skill sets and knowledge needed to obtain certification and to pursue a career as a Medical Assistant.
- The instructors will need to keep current and accurate attendance, grades, and records and spend 1-2 hours per cohort coordinating with the team. Courses must be aligned with the knowledge and skills required for the AMT RMA credential. Experience as a teacher, trainer, health care personnel instructor, or direct Medical Assistant supervisor is preferred.
- The courses will be in person in Holyoke, daytime, Tuesday - Friday, on the main campus and at the HCC Center for Health Education.
- Courses in the program include Medical Administration, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, Insurance and Billing, EKG, Phlebotomy, Clinical Skills, and Introduction to Drug Therapy.
- The primary instructional need is in Medical Administration.
- Candidates with the qualifications, experience, and interest in teaching any of the courses within the program are strongly encouraged to apply, as new programming needs are frequently occurring in Workforce Development.

Minimum Qualifications :
Master’s Degree in healthcare field, or relevant industry Certifications and experience.The ability to teach courses in person in Holyoke, daytime, Tuesday - Friday, at the HCC Center for Health Education.Prior healthcare teaching educational experience -, with Medical Assisting content.Commitment to, and demonstrated ability to, work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff & student body.Knowledge and experience using active learning methods and using a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course. Such activities can include but are not limited to : a.) Cooperative learning. b.) Experiential learning, c.) Writing for learning and / or Critical thinking initiatives, d) audio, visual learning, and kinesthetic learning.The instructor will arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment in a timely manner necessary to meet course objectives in collaboration with the program coordinator.Instructors are expected to be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data including assessment of student performance, including final grade reports.Instructors are expected to be supportive of students' learning goals by : a.) Focusing on student learning outcomes b.) Taking into account the needs and abilities of the students c.) Becoming familiar with academic and social support available to the students.Instructors are expected to make reasonable provisions to accommodate individual differences.Instructors are expected to maintain the academic integrity of the college.Instructors are expected to make himself / herself available to assist students in achieving their learning goals.Instructors are expected to attend all scheduled classes. Per Course Rate : $1,300 - $1,700 per credit equivalent, depending on number of noncredit courses previously taught at HCC ; no benefits.
