Position Summary
The position of Assistant Dean for Academic Support is a new leadership role in the Fordham College Advising Center that is based on recommendations by the A&S Implementation
Committee as well as aligning with the auspices of a tandem advising framework.
The Assistant Dean is responsible for overseeing the pre-major declaration experience for students in Fordham College at Rose Hill and Fordham College at Lincoln Center while fostering an
environment that facilitates a collaborative transition to tandem advising as well as developing and implementing academic processes that impact Fordham College students and collaborators across campus. Overall, this role will be supporting a team-based, student-focused approach to guiding students prior to major declaration in Fordham's liberal arts college.
Reporting to the Vice Dean for Undergraduate Education (VDUE), who oversees the Center across both campuses, the Assistant Dean will supervise 5-10 Academic Advisors and Senior Academic
Advisors for First- and Second-Year Students at their respective campuses while also playing a major role in spearheading academic processes and liaising with the Vice Provost for Student
Success.
Essential Functions
Organizes hiring, onboarding, and supervision of advising center personnel; works closely with the college Senior Associate Deans to build collaborations with existing personnel.
Initiates and supports collaboration with faculty regarding student academic success and information sharing about major / minor offerings.
Assist students, faculty, and staff in navigating academic complexities that impact retention and persistence.
Represents FC on efforts pertaining to retention and academic processes, in collaboration with the Vice Provost of Student Success as well.
Establishes strong relationships with the leadership of special programs on campus that guide students, such as Athletic Advising, Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), as well as the faculty leadership of programs like Dance, Theater, and Honors, to build synergies between these areas and the advising center.
Collaborates with the Associate Deans of Undergraduate Education and STEM Education, respectively, on synergies between first and second year advising and pre-professional advising.
Oversees academic orientation and admissions events for prospective and incoming students in coordination with the Senior Associate Deans.
Under the direction of the VDUE, leads in the integration of data analysis and robust communication of findings into the regular work of academic advising and for dissemination to faculty and other stakeholders.
Contributes to the communications strategy alongside the Senior Associate Deans of each college and faculty, focused on helping students understand the value of academic advising resources across their undergraduate experience, as part of the adoption of a tandem advising model.

Additional Functions
Required Qualifications : Education and Experience
Master's or Doctoral degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with academic advising in higher education with progressive responsibilities.
Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, preferably leading complex teams.
Required Qualifications : Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated experience leading large-scale initiatives, including faculty stakeholders.
Familiarity with change management and guiding supervisors through comprehensive organizational change.
Experience with data-driven approaches to strengthening retention, as well as outcome assessment.
Demonstrated experience integrating best practices in academic advising and the scholarship of advising into practice.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, organize, prioritize, and work collaboratively.
Proficiency in various software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Banner, Salesforce, and web management systems is a plus.

$95,000
Maximum Starting Salary
$103,000
