Our Client, an Automotive company, is looking for a Technical Writer/Automotive Technician for their Warren, MI location.
Responsibilities: - Chassis, HVAC, Powertrain, Body, Interior, and Exterior.
- Edit existing mechanical service information content as required
- Utilize Teamcenter and Vis Mockup to create graphics from math data.
- Utilize Arbortext to develop the text of the procedures, while creating and using text strings when applicable.
- Manage publication content by section, subsection and information type
- Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
- A typical day look like for someone in this position-Will be working on a on engines and transmission and have assigned task to get procedures done.
- They could create a document that follows steps on how to add or remove spark plugs. The other manager supports Chassis.
- Commodity areas will this role focus on most- Engines and transmission, CHASSIS and HVAC.
- The work involves creating new content versus editing existing procedures- /
- Level of proficiency with Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, and Arbortext is expected at the start- would take experience at a dealership or auto repair than being knowledgeable in this area.
- Can train them.
Requirements: - Proficient with use of MS Excel, MS Word, and Arbortext.
- Knowledge using CAD visualization techniques, with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup preferred
- Illustration and graphics development skills preferred
- Technical writing background is preferred
- Dealership experience as a technician preferred
- Good organizational skillsAbility to clearly communicate complex subject matter
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Ability to work in a production-based environment with adherence to delivery schedule timing.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or English, journalism, communications PERFERRED
- Bachelor's degree in technical fields, automative or engineering is required.
- Open to people who have recently graduated if they do not have much work experience. However,
- Open to someone that has at least years’ experience working at a dealership or car shop.
- Ability to author and edit mechanical service procedures using Arbortext. Strong understanding of technical documentation standards and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- CAD Visualization & Graphic Creation: Proficiency with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup for creating graphics from math data. Skills in illustration and graphics development to support service information.
