Job Summary
- The Sterile Processing Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for all sterile processing functions across the organization. This role ensures effective department performance through policy development, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, and alignment with hospital goals. The manager collaborates closely with perioperative leadership to support safe surgical outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
Direct daily and long-term operations of the sterile processing departmentDevelop and implement policies, procedures, and strategic initiativesLead department hiring, onboarding, training, and performance managementEnsure full regulatory compliance and readiness for accreditation surveysMonitor KPIs, safety data, and implement process improvementsCollaborate with OR, infection control, supply chain, and administrative leadershipManage departmental budget, contracts, and capital equipment planningOversee staff scheduling, certification tracking, and continuing educationChampion a culture of accountability, quality, and professional developmentKnowledge / Skills / Abilities / Expectations

Education
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, or related field preferredAssociate degree and extensive sterile processing leadership experience may be consideredLicenses / Certifications
CRCST or CBSPD requiredCHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) or equivalent management credential preferredExperience
Minimum of 5 years of sterile processing experience, including 2+ years in management or leadership roles preferred
