Position Summary
The Chemical Manager oversees the safe and efficient use of chemicals in the production process. This role ensures proper handling, storage, and sequencing procedures are followed while supporting quality, safety, and operational performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the liaison between EHSS and Production to ensure safe chemical handling.
- Partner with Quality and Production teams to maintain product standards.
- Lead the onboarding of new chemicals and blending formulas.
- Support the design, development, and implementation of chemical processes and equipment.
- Work with Maintenance on process and equipment design, testing, and optimization.
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors to manage daily production activities.
- Promote a quality-first mindset with a focus on error-proofing, continuous improvement, and team development.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.Seven to ten years of operational leadership in chemical manufacturing.Proven success in high-volume, fast-paced environments.Relevant certifications (PE, CHMM) are preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of chemical production processes.Experience with Lean or Six Sigma is a plus.Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.Deep knowledge of safety standards, compliance, and risk management.Solid process-management capabilities.Ability to innovate, drive change, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing plant.Exposure to typical factory noise, machinery, and moving equipment.Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.Frequent walking throughout the facility; use of standard office equipment.Required use of PPE as dictated by safety protocols.Full-time schedule with overtime as needed; some travel between sites may be required.Work may be fast-paced and deadline-driven.The duties and responsibilities listed above describe the general nature of the role and may not include all tasks required.
