Job Description:

Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a Patent Engineer with excellent communication skills and the ability to explain, clarify and simplify complex technical information. As a member of MPS' Intellectual Property Group and Legal department, this person will work closely with other team members in building and maintaining MPS' patent portfolio, and interacting with MPS engineering, product, and business groups to provide advice on all aspects of intellectual property.

Responsibilities Include:

• Identifying research that may be subject to filing of patent applications.
• Participate in patent application preparation and prosecution world-wide.
• Analyze patents and prepare infringement and validity opinions.
• Conduct educational client seminars and courses on intellectual property.
• Work on developing strategy for R&D and Product groups on how they can develop an area, strengthen patents to support products.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or above in Electrical Engineering.
• Admitted to U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
• 4-6 years' experience with a law firm and/or corporation.
• Experience with preparation and prosecution of US patents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• J.D. from accredited law schools is preferred.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The base salary range for this position in California is $120,000 - $160,000.
