Retail Remodel Superintendent

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Retail Remodel Superintendent to lead live-store remodel and renovation projects for national retail brands, including big-box and grocery retailers such as Walmart, Trader Joe's, and similar tenants. This role is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities while maintaining store operations, safety, and brand standards.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing occupied retail environments , tight schedules, night work, and complex MEP coordination in fast-paced settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site construction activities for live retail remodels and renovations
- Manage remodel projects in occupied stores while minimizing disruption to customers and staff
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and store management
- Enforce strict safety standards and OSHA compliance in public environments
- Plan and manage night work, phased construction, and tight shutdown windows
- Review and interpret construction drawings, scopes, and tenant standards
- Coordinate MEP trades with a strong focus on sequencing and store operations
- Conduct daily jobsite walks, safety meetings, and coordination meetings
- Maintain quality control and ensure compliance with national brand standards
- Communicate daily progress, schedule updates, and field issues to project management
- Manage inspections, punch lists, and rapid project close-outs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite at all times
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on retail remodel or renovation projectsProven experience working in live / occupied retail environmentsExperience with big-box, grocery, or national retail brands preferredStrong understanding of MEP coordination and phased constructionAbility to manage fast-track schedules, night shifts, and weekend workStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsProficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software preferredOSHA certification strongly preferredWhat's Offered
