What You'll Do As a Assistant Manager, Organ Placement, you will directly contribute to LifeLink's life-saving mission. Primary responsibility is to work within established LifeLink Foundation, OPO, and regulating agency policies and procedures to direct the resources available to bring about a successful placement of cadaveric kidneys and / or extra-renal organs for transplantation. The Assistant Manager of Organ Placement will be responsible for day-to-day oversight, mentoring, education, training, and evaluation of the Organ Placement Coordinators (OPCs). The Assistant Manager will support and assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures, strategies, and action plans related to the placement of organs. Coordinates the orientation of new OPCs to ensure the process is efficient and comprehensive. This position maintains an ongoing open line of communication with the Organ Placement Manager, Administrator on Call, and the OPO Director(s) as appropriate. This position will also function as a resource and support for all Recovery Services staff and will work in close collaboration with the Organ Placement Manager, and Manager and Assistant Manager Transplant Coordinators.

Key Responsibilities :

• Guides assigned staff toward accomplishing LifeLink's mission and goals, including selection, training and development, scheduling and job assignment, mentoring, and counseling, appraisal and recognition, and recommending promotional and disciplinary coaching.
• May direct work planning, approve call schedules, vacation requests, expense reports, etc., to ensure adequate staff and adherence to policies and procedures as directed by Manager, Referral Coordinators.
• Participate in hiring through screening resumes and conducting interviews.
• Manages process of mid-year and annual evaluations of assigned staff, providing one-on-one evaluations and goal planning with the goal of strengthening and increasing personal and professional competencies in collaboration with Manager.
• Can function in all duties of an Organ Placement Coordinator and will participate in the call schedule.
• Create a positive learning environment for coworkers and exhibit strong leadership Model effective communication with coworkers, physicians, and hospital staff
• Demonstrate working knowledge and competence with LifeLink and UNOS organ recovery policies and Adhere to the standards of practice for quality assurance procedures established within the Foundation.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and training of policies and procedures relating to organ recovery.
• Work closely with the Medical Director on-call and the Administrator on-call on all issues pertaining to clinical and technical aspects of organ allocation and serve as a resource for Coordinators on
• Serves as a backup to the Organ Placement Manager.
• Supervises, evaluates and assists in the development of Core Competencies for the development and oversees their implementation on an annual and as needed basis.
• Participate in weekly conference calls / meetings to review organ placement efforts of each donor as Assume a leadership role in the kidney utilization review meetings.
• Actively participate in analysis of data and benchmark activity and lead organ-placement reviews for quality assurance and enhanced organ allocation opportunities with the goal of increasing organ utilization and
• Work on special assignments and projects as directed by the Organ Placement Manager and Director of Recovery Services or Executive
• Responsible for participating in quality assessment performance improvement (QAPI) activities for the OPO as outlined in the OPO Quality Assessment Performance Improvement
• Performs other related job duties as required and assigned.

Who You Are Passionate about helping others and making a difference Aligned with LifeLink's core values of Compassion, Excellence, Legacy, People, and Quality BSN, RN or healthcare equivalent. Four years' experience as a organ placement coordinator or experience in transplant, OPO, critical care nursing and / or other positions with similar responsibilities. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational, problem analysis and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate and achieve cooperation. Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with other staff members and hospital or other external agency personnel. Must be able to maintain professionalism and confidentiality of LifeLink business. Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and participate in 24-hour call. Required to work for extended periods of time with few breaks. Ability to lift up to 50lbs with assistance.

Working Conditions Generally pleasant in a fully supported team-office environment with periods of high stress and extended hours. On-call rotation responsibilities with 24-hour cell phone accessibility.
