American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Adult ICU position in a Level 1 Trauma setting, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and strong sterile technique skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital Adult ICU consisting of SICU, MICU, and Trauma ICU podsUnit includes 40 beds per pod with a total of 120 bedsLevel 1 Trauma center serving critical and trauma patientsPatient population includes sepsis, organ transplants, trauma cases, post-operative vents, and severe medical emergenciesRNs are required to titrate drips and interpret their own telemetry stripsUse of advanced respiratory equipment including ventilators, Cervo I, jets, and oscillatorsCerner EMR system is used12-hour night shifts with 3 weekend shifts required every 4 weeksFloat among all ICU areas and to MedSurg / Tele units, and St. Joseph Westgate campus as neededSelf-scheduling available with scheduling team oversightDay 1 pass / fail SIM lab on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is requiredNurses are expected to maintain sterile field competence as assessed during SIM lab; failure to pass may result in releaseWill work alongside a multidisciplinary team including 24 / 7 in-house Intensivists and Respiratory TherapistsOrientation includes two shifts on unit and educational modules on lifts, restraints, and wound careRequired to work at least 2 out of 4 major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year’s DayNavy blue scrubs required for all shiftsStaff must have natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven for fit testsReturning employees must not have been employed by the health system within the past year\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses will not be acceptedMinimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience in a 600+ bed teaching hospitalCurrent certifications : ACLS, BLS, and NIHSSLevel 1 Trauma ICU experience is mandatoryExperience with ventilators and titratable drips requiredMust pass basic or advanced dysrhythmia exam prior to offer, two attempts allowedTwo professional references required : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsCopy of driver’s license must be provided for verificationMust meet a 50-mile radius rule determined by permanent address on driver's license\n Benefits\n
