Medical Center: Chaplain Training Program (Full-time Day Shift) -

The Educator-Pastoral Education develops, administers, maintains, and exemplifies the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program for Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC). Administers individual CPE units and supervises students' daily work. Provides chaplain services. To meet the IRS standards for ministerial services and parsonage eligibility requirements, the required ministerial responsibilities must be performed. Performs other duties as needed.

Master's Degree in Theology or Divinity from an accredited graduate school or seminary required. Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education required. Minimum two years of Pastoral experience or related field experience required. Ordination required. A ceremony to publically recognize one's endorsed by their denomination for full-time service in Pastoral Care. Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains required. Certified by ACPE Supervisor. Ministerial credential, commissioned ministerial credential, and ministerial license required. NAD ministerial license required if considered by the church a Spiritual Leader.

Knowledge of professional theological and medical ethical issues required. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. Essential Interpersonal Skills: High regard for the dignity and worth of patients and their families. Able to speak clearly in person and over the phone. Able to write clearly and concisely. Able to listen and interact with patients and their families. Able to deliver community presentations. Able to deal effectively with family members and staff under stressful circumstances. Essential Mental Abilities: Must have good administrative skills as demonstrated through experience. Must possess emotional sensitivity as to appropriate approach, depth of discussion, choice of words, manner, etc., in response to situations of extreme mental and physical trauma and understands counseling techniques. Able to cope with stressful situations and able to document accurately according to standards. Must be able to work with minimum supervision and make independent decisions while interacting with other hospital staff. Able to concentrate on several assignments simultaneously. Able to edit, organize and prioritize. Able to execute duties in an efficient manner with attention to detail. Able to receive and carry out instructions. Able to protect the confidentiality of patients, staff, students, and volunteers. Essential Sensory Abilities: Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associate with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documentation necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.
