If you want to learn how to repair and recondition vehicles to the highest standards, CarMax is the place to be. This role allows current trade school students to work part-time as an Apprentice Technician while completing their education.

As an Automotive Apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience while working alongside skilled technicians. You will learn to repair engines, adjust steering and suspension, fix heating and air conditioning, and more—all while applying what you’re learning in school.

What you will do – Essential responsibilities

Build confidence, experience and skills as an automotive mechanic across a wide range of domestic and foreign vehicles

Work as part of a team to solve technical problems quickly and effectively

Follow and promote our high standards of safety, cleanliness and organization

Qualifications and requirements

Some knowledge and experience of repairing vehicles

Manual dexterity and physical stamina, lift heavy objects, and walk and stand for extended periods of time

Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Good communication skills and attention to detail

Possession of a valid driver’s license

The hourly rate for this position is :

$19.80 - $38.90

Commissions :

This position is eligible for commission.

Benefits :

Except as otherwise required by state law, those considered part-time are eligible for sick time only in states that mandate it and amounts are accrued on a per pay period basis and range from 24 hours to unlimited based on state rules. In Washington, part-time Associates receive sick leave consistent with state law. Part-time Associates are also eligible for between 8 hours and 40 hours per year of vacation based on their length of service and subject to a 1 year waiting period. Part-time Associates are also eligible for 4 hours of Floating Holiday Time each calendar year subject to manager approval.
