Position Summary
The Activities Assistant supports the Activities Director in planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging programs and events for residents. This role is essential in promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being among our residents. The ideal candidate is energetic, creative, patient, and enjoys working with seniors.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning and leading group and individual activities, such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, and outings.
Encourage resident participation and tailor activities to meet individual needs and preferences.
Help decorate and prepare rooms or common areas for special events and seasonal programs.
Accompany residents on outings and ensure their safety and well-being.
Maintain attendance records and assist in documenting resident engagement.
Support residents with mobility or other needs during activities.
Collaborate with other staff to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
Assist in organizing and maintaining activity supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in recreational activities, senior care, or a related field preferred.
Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about working with older adults.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and engage residents with diverse abilities.
Basic computer skills for scheduling and documentation.
CPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
