Job Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides patient-centered physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role supports the delivery of rehabilitative care to help patients improve mobility, strength, function, and overall quality of life in inpatient and / or outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, functional mobility training, and modalities as prescribed.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, mobility techniques, and safety precautions.
- Accurately document treatments, patient progress, and outcomes in accordance with professional standards and regulations.
- Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment and follow infection control practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support continuity of care.
- Comply with all applicable state regulations, professional standards, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
Experience & Skills
Prior experience in inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation settings preferred.Strong knowledge of physical therapy techniques and patient care principles.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively with patients of varying ages and functional abilities.Education
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.Licensure & Certification
Active Texas Physical Therapist Assistant license.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
