Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs, inspections, and testing of facility and production equipment. This role supports plant goals in Safety, Quality, and Reliability (SQR) while upholding Kroger’s core values and High-Performance Work System principles.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and facility systems

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime

Use machine tools (lathe, grinder, drill press, milling machine) to repair or fabricate parts

Complete scheduled and emergency work orders

Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs

Maintain a clean and organized maintenance workspace

Operate material handling equipment safely

Accurately document maintenance work

Follow all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements

Work safely around ingredients and products containing allergens

Perform work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years maintenance mechanic experience or relevant technical training

Proficient mechanical skills in at least one area : electrical, welding / fabrication, utilities, or basic PLCs

Strong attention to detail, urgency, and accuracy

Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Reliable, dependable, and team-oriented

Strong planning, prioritization, and communication skills

Basic computer literacy

Must be at least 18 years old

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Experience in food manufacturing

Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
