We are seeking a Neurology Nurse Practitioner for a 10-day locum tenens assignment in New York, starting Jan 2, 2026. This position is based at a Stroke Center and involves a flexible schedule of 12-hour day and night shifts. Responsibilities and Duties
Manage stroke patients and respond to stroke codesAdminister IV medications and manage medication dripsWrite admission and discharge orders under attending supervisionPerform advance care planning and obtain consentConduct arterial blood gas determination and arterial punctures for ABGDraw blood, perform phlebotomy, and venipunctureInsert and replace feeding and nasogastric tubesInsert Foley catheters and venous lines; remove drains and central venous pressure devicesChange surgical and non-surgical dressings; staple and suture insertion / removalPerform and interpret EKGsOrder and interpret imaging studies (CT, MRI, MRA, CTA, Carotid, ECHO)Order and reconcile medications and laboratory workMonitor vital signs; initiate CPR and assist in code situationsInitiate consultation requests and participate in interdisciplinary roundsProvide patient education and perform bedside swallowing screeningComplete pre-operative assessments and instructionsInterpret head CT, MRI brain, MRA head, CTA head and neckAssess eligibility for thrombolytic therapy; administer Tenecteplase (TNK)Perform relevant cancer risk assessments for the general populationWrite daily progress notes and discharge summariesAdditional Information
