Parking Technician

The City of Alameda Public Works Department is the steward of Alameda's public infrastructure, responsible for its design, construction, and maintenance. The position is responsible for enforcement of local regulations and ordinances governing parking of vehicles according to established practices and procedures.

The current enforcement hours are :

• Monday 7 : 00am-7 : 00pm
• Tuesday 7 : 00am-7 : 00pm
• Wednesday 7 : 00am-7 : 00pm
• Thursday 7 : 00am-7 : 00pm
• Friday 7 : 00am-7 : 00pm
• Saturday 7 : 00am-7 : 00pm

Examples of duties include patrolling an assigned area of the City to observe vehicles in violation of parking regulations, operating vehicles systems with Automate License Plate Reader, enforcing local regulations and ordinances by issuing citations and warnings, explaining parking and related traffic laws to members of the public, maintaining accurate records of work performed, notifying Police of public safety concerns or incidents involving abusive behavior by the public, reporting malfunctioning parking meters, faded paint on curbs, vandalized signs, or other issues that may impede compliance and enforcement, inspecting and maintaining condition of enforcement vehicles, providing support and testimony on City's behalf for contested parking citations, answering public inquiries and conducting related work at the front desk, assisting in surveys of parking facilities and performing on-street parking studies of occupancy and location, and performing related duties as assigned.

Part-time positions at the City of Alameda may be eligible for limited benefits.
