Class B CDL Driver

Grower Direct Farms is a wholesale greenhouse based in Somers, Connecticut , serving retail partners throughout New England. We are seeking a full-time Class B CDL Driver to safely transport live plants and related goods to customer locations. Drivers are a critical part of our operation and represent Grower Direct Farms with professionalism, accuracy, and care.

Pay is dependent upon experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class B license (must remain current)
  • Minimum 2-3 years verifiable driving experience (Class A or B)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a safe driving record / MVR
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must pass :

Background screening

  • Pre-employment drug test
  • Road test administered by a qualified GDF driver / instructor
  • Must maintain a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Med Card)

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate straight trucks in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Deliver live plant product to retail garden centers and designated customer locations
  • Stage carts and product as directed by store personnel
  • Obtain signed and / or stamped Bills of Lading where applicable and return paperwork daily
  • Pick up and account for empty Grower Direct Farms carts when available
  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, store managers, and merchandising teams
  • Report delivery issues, delays, incidents, or mechanical concerns promptly

  • Local and regional routes throughout New England
  • Early start times are common (often 3 : 00-5 : 00 AM )
  • Seasonal volume fluctuations typical of greenhouse operations
  • Drivers are home daily

    • DOT / FMCSA Compliance Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

    All drivers must comply with all applicable federal and state regulations, including :

  • Maintaining a valid CDL and DOT Med Card
  • Compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) requirements
  • Participation in required drug and alcohol testing programs
  • Accurate inspection and documentation of vehicle condition
  • Safe operation of equipment at all times

    • FMCSA Reference : Title 49 Regulations (Drivers must follow all applicable rules)
