MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Experience working with young children.
• Knowledge of ECE teaching methods / strategies, classroom management techniques, curriculum standards and lesson planning.
• Infant / Child / Adult CPR and First Aid Certification, AED, and MERIT.
• TB test results (results can be from up to 12 months prior to hire date)
• Washington State Department of Early Learning Background Clearance for Child Care Licensing
• Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts required.
• Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required.
• Must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
• Problem Anticipation / Deductive Reasoning — Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
• Written Comprehension and Expression — Ability to read, understand and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
• Oral Comprehension and Expression —Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information.
• Computer – Ability to develop and maintain computer records in Word, Excel and other software required by TBCC and regulatory agencies. Ability to develop tracking and report forms in Word and Excel as needed.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Discovery Bay Learning Academy is a state-licensed childcare and early childhood education facility within PRO Club. The Assistant Teacher will possess strong educational skills, with a background in classroom teaching or group tutoring. In collaboration with the Lead Teacher, the Assistant Teacher will provide high quality youth programs to our members, bringing a positive, professional attitude, and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
