The objective for this position is to lead the effort in addressing the needs of residents at a CHW apartment community, through comprehensive community and asset mapping, offering "new resident orientation " that introduces CHW mission, values, expectations and resources that connects them to resident services. This position will ensure the quality of all onsite resident services, including, but not limited to Next Gen Success, Financial Well-Being, and Health and Wellness, and Career Pathways. Engaging residents and building community through supporting resident driven groups and activities, developing resident leaders, and building relationships both within and outside of the community they serve.

The CBC works both independently and in a team manner, collaborating with Property Management and the CHW Achieve Leadership Team, including but not limited to; County of San Diego, various food distribution Partners, and Financial Coaches in reaching all goals and objectives set by the Achieve Department as they relate to CHW's Strategic Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Work closely with the property manager
  • Meet regulatory requirements
  • Provide resident support services, being a connector to programs, partnerships, offering residents knowledge of access to resources
  • Build community capacity through resident leadership development utilizing the Resident Leadership Academy (RLA) curriculum
  • Assist with and perform additional duties as assigned, trained, and qualified to do, based on the assessment by the position's reporting manager.

Resident Engagement-

Next Gen Success : After School Program

  • Parent Engagement - Build relationships with parents to establish trust and foster those relationships throughout the school year, providing responsive and helpful assistance to Study Star families, and effectively communicate
  • Program Implementation - Implement a high-quality and structured after school program including but not limited to : planning, preparation, facilitation of all program activities. Homework, tutoring, iReady, enrichment, community building activities, amongst others
  • Program Responsibilities : Study Star program : attendance tracking, iReady registration, testing and diagnostics / reporting, program supply orders, participant behavior and academic reporting, communication with families and schools

  • Conducting three diagnostic reports per year
  • Responsible to ensure students complete iReady for 30 minutes each day
  • Program success is determined by the ASPGL reporting / entering data that will measure student retention and program requirements
  • Supervision of participants - Foster a welcoming, safe, respectful and positive environment conducive to youth development and restorative practices
  • Maintain Community Center - Conduct daily housekeeping duties, maintain a welcoming environment. Report damages or repairs, as needed. Perform safety checks, post evacuation and emergency procedures, etc.
  • Administrative Responsibilities - Complete all administrative tasks such as Kintone data entry, timecards and trainings as required, in a timely manner
  • Financial Well-Being

  • Facilitate financial wellness educational instruction classes between the Financial Well Being team and the resident
  • Work collaboratively with Financial Coaches to assure effective and efficient coordination of delivery of financial well-being services
  • Work collaboratively with property management to assure achievement of shared project-specific goals
  • Work in collaboration with Financial Coaches to analyze and evaluate resident finances to create a financial fitness plan
  • Makes appropriate referrals for resident as a support system to carry out their action plan

  • Collaborate, assist and participate in Sue Reynolds Valor Scholarship. (CHW interdepartmental work and promotion, resident eligibility to submission, execution of logistics)
  • Career Pathways :

  • Kintone administration : enter attendance, participation, activities and 1 : 1 meetings
  • Recruit and promote Career Pathways Program to increase enrollment and engagement
  • Communicate and encourage parents / guardians of participating residents to attend Career Pathways workshops
  • Host a minimum of two Career Pathways recruitment events per cohort
  • Health and Wellness

    Resident Leadership Academy :

  • Launch 8- week Resident Leadership Academy (RLA) training, utilize the RLA curriculum
  • Conduct pre and post RLA Resident Surveys and Focus Groups Interviews
  • Conduct Community Improvement Project (CIP) meetings, discussing updates, plan and launch the CIP, including any potential community partners
  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Communications, Family and Human Development, Human Services, Public Health, and / or 2 or more years of experience in related fields desired.
  • Must have experience working with children and adults in similar diverse setting. Experience specifically teaching in a nonprofit setting or working in an after school youth program a plus.
  • Culturally sensitive engagement with community members and the practice of active listening
  • Effective group facilitation and engaging groups in dialogue
  • Flexibility, creativity and excellent leadership skills
  • Understanding or interest in issues of low-income families from psycho-social and economic perspectives such as immigration, domestic violence, and substance abuse issues, parenting related matters, and teen behavior challenges.
  • Must have College Level writing skills to produce effective communication between residents, volunteers, property management, CHW inter-departments, partners, and funders.
  • Understanding of Fair Housing and tenant / landlord laws, rules, and regulations a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish required.
  • Intermediate to Proficient experience with computers, Email, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher); knowledge of database systems a plus, but not required.
  • CPR / First Aid Certified is required or the training will be provided
  • Compensation :

    It may vary based on skills, experience and qualifications

    $24.00 - $26.73
