Mechanical 219ers spend most of their time in the San Francisco office.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Provide technical leadership for complex mechanical engineering projects.Research, design, develop, build, and test mechanical devices, including housings and mechanisms.Quickly design, build, and iterate prototypes, using rapid prototyping technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, milling / machining.Perform DFM / DFA, specifying materials, tolerances, finishes, etc. for manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, and injection molding.Assist with transition to manufacturing.Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.Work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.Participate in weekly Mechanical Discussion meetings to discuss best practices and share project triumphs and struggles that could benefit from the input of others. Chime in on our Slack channels when you see an opportunity to help out a colleague.Maintain awareness of bigger picture context for 219 Design and our clients while executing tasks.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSB.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related5+ years experience in mechanical engineering, covering the responsibilities listed above Proven track record of leading complex product development projects from concept to commercialization.Proficiency in SolidWorks and / or Onshape design and manufacturing drawingsExceptional communication and collaboration skillsWork from our San Francisco office as needed (min. 3 days / week)You are authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMedical device experienceExperience with automation and robotics systems
