Plans Examiner.

Under managerial supervision, the Plans Review Examiner is responsible for reviewing and evaluating building construction plans, specifications, and related documents to ensure compliance with applicable building and fire codes, fire safety regulations, and local, state, and federal laws.

Examine architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing plans for compliance with fire safety regulations, local, state, and federal laws and other adopted codes and standards.

Identify code deficiencies and communicate required corrections to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners.

Provide interpretations of codes and ordinances to design professionals and the public.

Maintain detailed records of plan review decisions, correspondence, and approvals in the permit tracking system.

Respond to inquiries from stakeholders regarding submittal requirements, code interpretations, and review timelines.

May participate in pre-submittal meetings and offer guidance to project teams.

Stay current with changes in codes, ordinances, and construction technology.

Assist in developing and updating internal policies, guidelines, and procedures for plan reviews.

Perform other duties assigned.

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of job-related experience. Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license. Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
