The Opportunity

We are looking for a part-time Construction Accountant to join our team who will manage monthly Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Client Billing processes. This role requires precise attention to detail, strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to work within multiple systems. The project accountant reports to the Director of Finance and supports internal and external customers. Manages accounts payable, invoice preparation, project metric tracking, and assists in month-end closing activities.

This position begins as Part-Time (minimum of 20 hours per week) , with the potential to transition to Full-Time .

Role & Responsibilities

  • Possess an expertise in the QuickBooks Accounts Payable, Billing, & Accounts Receivable modules
  • Possess an understanding in job cost, work in progress, and revenue recognition principles
  • Manage accounts payable process including invoice entry and release of liens
  • Manage monthly client billing including client change orders, updating project metrics and identifying areas of concern.
  • Assist with monthly closing processes including credit card and bank reconciliations
  • Develop and maintain a high level of customer service
  • Develop and maintain a high level of trust with the leadership team, project managers, superintendent, owners & employees by timely responding to inquiries
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality of the Company and client information
  • Seek out, identify, and suggest cost-saving opportunities
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of internal controls for purposes of safeguarding company assets as well as providing accurate and efficient information
  • Additional duties : due to the cyclical nature of the billing cycle, other duties will be assigned based on employee's interest and department needs, which may change from time to time

    • Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 2-3 years minimum accounting experience - construction industry strongly preferred
  • Solid foundation and proficiency in QuickBooks
  • Experience with Procore is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Ability to work with discretion and confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Work under pressure in meeting tight deadlines
  • Self-reliant and resourceful in problem-solving

    • Compensation & Schedule

  • Part-Time : Minimum 20 hours per week, flexible schedule
  • Pay Range : $32-$40 per hour
  • Opportunity to transition to Full-Time
