Accounting Manager - Hybrid Opportunity!

Our client, a well-respected public service organization, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to play a critical role in overseeing accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. In this role, the Accounting Manager will manage and approve complex accounting transactions, collaborate closely with both the Finance and HR teams, and provide leadership during budget and year-end close cycles. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in public sector accounting, payroll, reconciliations, and multi-entity financial management.
Key Responsibilities : Accounting Manager
- Review and approve all financial transactions prepared by the Accounting Specialist team, including AP, AR, journal entries, and cash receipts.
- Oversee and process Visa charges and excise tax filings on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile monthly cash accounts and serve as backup approver for Accounting Assistant tasks.
- Provide oversight and support for bi-monthly payroll review, including participation in payroll meetings with Finance and HR.
- Partner with leadership to support the annual budget process and lead the year-end close, including preparation of financial statements for multiple entities.
- Manage year-end activities such as filing W-2s and 1099s.
- Review AR invoices, including reimbursements from affiliated foundations, monitoring adherence to annual budgets, and one-off reimbursement agreements.
Preferred Qualifications : Accounting Manager
Minimum of 5 years progressive accounting experience, with emphasis in public sector or fund accounting.Proven experience with budgeting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.Strong ability to work independently while effectively partnering across departments, including HR and leadership teams.Excellent attention to detail, communication, and analytical skills.Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
