The Managing Editor will serve as the backbone in creating and shaping HICONSUMPTION’s voice, working directly with the Editor in Chief to establish and maintain editorial vision for the HICONSUMPTION website, video, and social media platforms. You will be responsible for managing a team of in-house staff writers & freelancers to create content for the website across all verticals : EDC, Watches, Gear, Tech, Automotive, Style, etc.

The Managing Editor is the head decision maker for daily content coverage consideration, curates product pitch lists from editorial staff ensuring that all editorial coverage stays on brand, and is responsible for maintaining our editorial calendar and assignments. You will also work with our in-house sales manager to design / develop custom content ideas and platforms for advertising campaigns. Above all else, the Managing Editor must possess an immense passion and deep knowledge for the men’s gear space, with an affinity for products and brands that fuse form and function effortlessly. Responsibilities

Assign / edit stories to a team of staff writers & freelancers across various verticals

Manage deadlines / schedules for editorial team

Create and maintain SOPs for editorial department

Serve as head decision maker for daily content coverage consideration, and curate product pitch lists from editorial staff ensuring that all editorial coverage stays on brand

Maintain editorial vision and content calendar for HICONSUMPTION website, email, and social media platforms

Work with sales manager to design / develop custom content ideas and platforms for advertising campaigns

Work alongside video and social producer to ensure voice, content, and structure stays consistent across website, video, and social

Produce several pieces of original content daily, including product reviews, features, in-depth buyer’s guides, and video scripts

Monitor the competitive landscape and identify concepts that can be adapted and applied to HICONSUMPTION

Requirements

At least 2 years of professional digital media, editorial, or publishing experience required, management experience is preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Film, Communication, or related field of study is preferred

Excellent grammar skills with a diverse vocabulary and proficient at spelling

The ability to perform in-depth research on anything men’s gear related

Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable receiving constructive criticism

The ability to lead a team, holding colleagues accountable, and manage interdepartmental communications & schedules

A willingness to work odd hours and put in additional time as the assignment / editorial schedule dictates

Must meet deadlines and have strong prioritization & time management skills

A highly organized, detail-oriented approach to work with experience multitasking and tracking several projects simultaneously

Loves working in a team environment

WordPress & G-Suite experience is required, Asana & Mailchimp experience is a plus
