Construction Inspector Senior

Job Description

Under direction, oversee and participate in responsible sub-professional engineering work in inspecting the construction of sewers and sewer structures for the District.

Essential Functions:

• Inspection of multiple concurrent sewer and facility projects under District contract
• Interpreting detailed construction plans and specifications
• Preparation of quantities and calculations to be used in monthly pay applications
• Meeting with applicable stakeholders throughout the construction of a project
• Investigation of customer service inquiries

Additional Responsibilities:

• May approve minor grade and elevation changes
• Maintain records and prepare reports
• Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisor

Qualifications

Training and Experience:

• High school diploma/GED
• Four (4) years of experience in the construction and inspection of sewers.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, practices and techniques involved in the construction of sewers and sewer structure
• Considerable knowledge of standard engineering field tests
• Skill in estimating quantities and quality of construction materials
• Skill in the use of level and transit
• Skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors and the general public
• Skill in supervising the work of others
• Skill in maintaining records and preparing reports
• Completion of specialized college-level course work in civil engineering subjects such as mathematics, calculus, construction, etc. preferred,

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.

Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as non-safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.

Must be able to provide transportation for fieldwork.
