Position Overview :
We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of custom aerospace machinery and high-precision mechanical systems. The hands-on role involves building complex assemblies, interpreting engineering documentation, performing mechanical diagnostics, and supporting engineers throughout the machine build process.
Key Responsibilities :
- Build and assemble complex mechanical systems and automation equipment using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, and shop machinery
- Interpret and work from CAD models, engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, fastening, drilling, tapping, and installation of mechanical components and subsystems
- Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, identify faults, and perform repairs with minimal supervision
- Support testing operations, including setting up mechanical test fixtures, operating equipment during test runs, and documenting results
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on assembly tools, machine components, and shop equipment
- Participate in full machine lifecycle : in-house build, testing, run-off, teardown, and shipment to customer sites
- Collaborate closely with engineers and provide feedback to improve design, serviceability and manufacturability
- Follow all safety protocols, quality procedures, and documentation standards
Qualifications : Required :
High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certificate or associate degree in Mechanical Technology or a related field is preferredStrong mechanical aptitude with experience using standard hand and power toolsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and bills of materialsExperience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, or equipment buildAbility to troubleshoot mechanical systems and understand mechanical components and mechanismsFamiliarity with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and torque toolsAbility to lift 30-40 lbs regularlyWillingness to work flexible hours and overtime as neededMust be able to pass a background check and drug screenPreferred :
Experience in aerospace manufacturing, automation, robotics, or similar high-precision industriesFamiliarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, motion systems, or electromechanical assembliesExperience with wire harnessing, soldering, or basic electrical tasksAbility to provide technical feedback to engineering for continuous improvementCompensation & Benefits
