Prototype Mechatronics Engineer

As a Prototype Mechatronics Engineer Carbon Robotics's, you will play a key role in bringing our rapid prototype systems to life. You will design and build simple structural parts, mechanical mechanisms, electrical circuits, and cable harnesses with Prototyping Technicians to allow for the rapid assessment and iteration of system designs. Additionally, you'll support PCB bring-up, and work directly with mechanical, electrical and embedded systems engineers to validate sensors, actuators, and electrical subsystems on prototypes. You will learn and interact with Carbon software tools in a limited capacity. To meet the high bar of the Prototype Team you will have demonstrated significant ownership and as well as have delivered impactful results in past fast paced environments. Your attention to detail, organization skills, and work ethic will ensure that Carbon Robotics's Prototyping Team delivers world class Zero to One development speeds.

What you'll do :

• Create simple wiring diagrams, cable harness drawings, and electrical documentation. Build and oversee wire harness fabrication, routing, and labeling.
• Design simple load carrying structures and mechanical mechanisms in CAD. Be able to do limited FEA analysis prior to releasing for prototype build.
• Support power distribution layout, integration, and buildout for prototype systems.
• Select electrical components, connectors, sensors, and electromechanical hardware.
• Operate a pick-and-place machine to support prototype PCB assembly.
• Assist with PCB firmware and electrical bring-up, including testing and rework.
• Validate sensors, actuators, and electrical components across subsystems.
• Support bring-up of new and legacy electromechanical systems.
• Write and modify simple firmware and test scripts to support system verification.
• Support bench and prototype testing, debugging, and electrical verification activities.

The compensation range outlined is based on a target budgeted base salary. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as relevant experience and skill, Interview assessments and responsibility of role, job duties / requirements. Offers are determined using our equitable hiring practices. Carbon Robotics offers additional compensation in the form of benefits premiums, pre-IPO stock options and On Target Earning commissions for appropriate positions. Base pay ranges are reviewed each year. We are committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for similar work.

Carbon Robotics' base salary pay range :

$95,000—$125,000 USD
