PURPOSE OF JOB :
The Technician will also be required to know how to provide basic maintenance on the KCPS walk-through metal detectors. They will coordinate and provide oversight for outside contractors hired to maintain, repair, and replace the video surveillance cameras, intrusion alarm systems, card access systems, and walkthrough metal detectors, visitor management systems, and X-ray machines. Additionally, the Technician will coordinate and assist KCPS crafts / trades staff and KCPS IT staff in maintaining, repairing, and replacing video surveillance camera systems, intrusion alarm systems, card access systems, and walkthrough metal detectors.
What You'll Be Doing : (Responsibilities)
- Respond to KCPS facilities and repair or replace defective video surveillance camera systems. Conduct routine maintenance on all video surveillance camera systems.
- Respond to KCPS facilities to repair and replace defective parts on all KCPS walk-through metal detectors.
- Respond to KCPS facilities to repair and replace defective parts for all card access systems and conduct routine maintenance on each system to ensure proper operation.
- When necessary, be on-call to respond to repair system malfunctions.
- Maintain files and records of systems, equipment, and repairs accomplished on all alarm systems, video surveillance cameras, card access systems, and metal detectors.
- Submit detailed requests for parts, equipment, and service orders to perform maintenance, repair, and replacement responsibilities. All requests will comply with all KCPS procurement policies and procedures, including [specific details about the procurement process].
- Agree to adhere to all training prescribed by security management.
- Program building access cards and passwords associated with the intrusion alarm systems and video camera surveillance systems upon receiving approval from the Safety & Security Department Director, Chief Operations Officer, and Human Capital Management Department.
- Delete building access cards and passwords associated with the intrusion alarm systems and video camera surveillance systems upon receiving approval from the Safety & Security Department Director, Chief Operations Officer, and the Human Capital Management Department.
- Maintain a real-time database for all programmed building access cards and passwords issued and deleted.
- The District-Wide Integrated Security System Technician is entrusted with maintaining the confidentiality of all information, databases, procedures, passwords, codes, and equipment specifications associated with the security systems. This responsibility ensures the systems cannot be compromised, and the commitment to this is crucial.
- Must have the ability to work harmoniously with outside contractors and other Internal KCPS staff. 13. Must be able to use a ladder or lifting device to work inside or outside District facilities at heights of five feet up to fifty feet above ground.

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To : (Qualifications)
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.Two (2) years of Tech experience in security camera systems, card access systems, and intrusion alarm systems.Successfully passed the Kansas City Public Schools Security pre-employment drug screen.Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to operate a security vehicle. The position requires entering and exiting the car multiple times per shift, regardless of weather conditions, day or night.Be insurable with the district insurance provider.In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need : (Preferred Qualifications)
Five (5) years of Tech experience in security camera systems, card access systems, and intrusion alarm systems.Professional Certifications in security camera systems, intrusion alarm systems, and card access systems.Working knowledge of Avigilon security camera systems, Avigilon card access systems, DMP intrusion alarm systems, and Motorola two-way radio systems.PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The position requires that the employee be able to hear. Visual ability requires monochromatic and color vision. Vision must be correctable to 20 / 20. The job requires the employee to be able to drive a motor vehicle for extended periods, both during the daytime and nighttime, and in all types of weather conditions. The position requires employees to enter and exit a motor vehicle several times throughout their assigned work shift.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Length of work year : 12 months / 7.5 hours per day / 5 days per week
