Housekeeping Aid Supervisor
VA Portland Health Care Systems is looking to fill a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor vacancy at the main hospital in Portland, Oregon. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks associated with the EMS goals and objectives. Other duties include : carrying out day-to-day functions independently, keeping the Chief / Assistant Chief Environmental Management Service advised of special problems and unique situations. Assures subordinates time is effectively used, to include managing the workload within resource and manpower available. Develops and accomplishes a periodic maintenance plan such as carpet cleaning, wall washing, and floor refinishing and notifying department heads of needed services and repairs. Assures effective utilization of all equipment assigned. Manages an effective training program for supervised staff and encourages staff members to understand their own responsibility for self-development. Administers annual competencies and sanitation procedures to all supervised staff and provides any needed training as identified. Monitors and enforces subordinates adherence to safety and conduct rules, policies, and regulations coordinates assists, or completes appropriate accident report documents.
Work Schedule : Permanent, Full Time positions, 1st shift, 2nd shift and 3rd shift may be available, which also includes weekdays, weekends, holidays. Shifts may change to meet the need of the Agency.

Physical Requirements : The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial @type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust, and debris.
Pay : Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Recruitment Incentive : Authorized Paid Time Off : 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal Holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior federal work experience or military service experience. Parental Leave : After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy : After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement : Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
