They are actively looking for a Senior Data Risk SME to support his interim gap for a full-time Divisional Data Risk Officer hire. The selected consultant may be considered for a full-time conversion after approximately 6 months, so the client is strictly looking for local candidates in Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA .

  • Duration : 6 months, potential for conversion to FTE
  • Location : Local to Charlotte or Atlanta only - Hybrid (2-3 days onsite)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of the EDRO Coverage and Operating Model : risk advisory, effective challenge, and independent risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure understanding of EDRO program requirements and to align on strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to and execute the EDRO strategic and tactical plans / roadmaps.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee issue management and remediation efforts per the Enterprise Issue Management (EIM) Program.
  • Support data risk reporting and metrics to reflect data risks enterprise-wide.
  • Promote a strong risk culture across the organization.
  • Provide effective challenge to all significant data processes and initiatives.
  • Offer risk advisory and act as the point of contact for data risk areas within business units or corporate functions.

    • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Data, Business, or Finance.
  • 10+ years of senior management experience in banking, tech, ops, risk management, or regulatory fields.
  • 5+ years in data governance, analytics, testing, or data-related risk roles.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Deep understanding of risk and controls frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build stakeholder trust.
  • Experience in team management and resource allocation.
  • Expertise in data management and controls across data supply chains.
  • Proven ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment and deliver executive-level work products.
  • Strong change leadership capabilities and comfort navigating ambiguity.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Business or Technology.
  • Knowledge of data compliance and applicable regulatory laws.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors (onshore / offshore).
  • Familiarity with GRC platforms such as Archer.
