Job Description :

Position Title :   Program Coordinator :   Volunteer, Youth and Community Engagement, HSL

Location :   NewBridge on the Charles (primary office) and other Senior Living Communities

The Program Coordinator of Volunteer, Youth and Community Engagement will support a department that welcomes, nurtures, and utilizes a community of volunteers, youth and other organizational partners to enrich the lives of Hebrew SeniorLife residents in Senior Living communities. The Program Coordinator will provide support for the screening, training, placement, supervision and recognition of volunteers and multigenerational partnership programs at NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham (Independent and Assisted Living) primarily. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the departmental staff, and collaborate with Community Life, Resident Services, Social Work, and other administrators as necessary, to help ensure that Hebrew SeniorLife is welcoming and inclusive to its community of volunteers, youth, family members and community partners.

    • Position Responsibilities :

  • Support the recruiting, screening, and interviewing of new volunteers, specifically for Senior Living.
  • Work with Multigenerational Groups, within the LTC and AL communities, to create and build programs that match the needs and interests of youth with seniors in HSL Senior Living communities.
  • Train new volunteers and model effective patient engagement strategies.
  • Support the Multigenerational initiatives on campus, assisting in bringing youthful energy into the building physically or remotely.
  • Utilize the database to track and maintain detailed records on volunteers.
  • Work with Community Life, Resident Services, Social Work and residents to understand and respond to the needs of the community and match volunteers with opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on support with residents as needed, as a contributor to the resident support team, and in order to better understand the needs and interests of the resident population.
  • Provide administrative support as needed with all activities related to Volunteer, Youth and Family Engagement.
  • Provide a welcoming, warm presence as part of each site staff team.
  • Exhibit flexibility as the needs of the department grow and shift.

    • Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent amount of commensurate experience.
  • Recreational therapy background or work experience with older adults strongly preferred.
  • Compassion for and desire to work with a multigenerational population.
  • Exceptional organization and interpersonal skills.  Must have ability to innovate, think strategically and conceptually, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle even difficult situations.
  • Must be a professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious, creative, energetic, patient, sensitive, and results-oriented individual.  Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and sound judgment.  Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
  • Experience in working with a diverse population.
  • Computer literacy; experience with Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel, Zoom, database software.

    $49,951.00 - $69,932.00
