Tax Specialist

Objective and Purpose:
As a Tax Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Dental Service Organization (DSO) and practice entities tax issues. Our tax department manages tax compliance and consulting tasks related to Federal and State Income Tax as well as oversight of the Property Tax and Sales/Use Tax. Your responsibilities will include working with outside accounting firms on large multistate partnerships with several hundred partners, managing tax controversy, addressing accounting and audit concerns, and being an impact player to the overall tax and finance teams. You will be given an opportunity to conduct tax research, verifying and updating medical practice information, resolving discrepancies, interacting with government agencies, including the IRS, assisting with ensuring timely tax payments, and providing support for various other tax-related tasks. There will be some organizing of tax documents, but most of the tax work is outsourced to outside service providers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Assist partners with their tax information and address questions that they might have about said information.
- Verify and update practice tax status and be source of information internally and externally on all tax related matters
- Contact taxing authorities as needed to address issues or obtain information.
- Assist in processing payments for certain taxes.
- Monitor the Tax Email Inbox and respond to inquiries promptly.
- Conduct tax research to support tax planning and compliance efforts.
- Organize tax returns, correspondence, workpapers, and other documents for the and each practice(s)' location.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in tax compliance and consulting in public accounting or a similar role in industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Work Conditions:
- Candidate must be able to work in office 4 days a week and 1 remote.
- No travel is typically required for this position.
- Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
- Candidate must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 / annum
