Job Summary :
Provides evidence-based nutrition health and breastfeeding education and counseling to WIC-eligible clients. Determines nutritional and medical risk issues WIC food benefits and supports daily office operations. Promotes community outreach through partnerships with local programs that serve WIC participants.
Job Description :
Conducts nutrition and health assessments in accordance with WIC policies including eligibility determination collection and interpretation of anthropometric and hematologic data and documentation of medical and dietary information. Assigns risk categories establishes nutrition goals and issues appropriate food benefits.
Delivers individualized and group nutrition counseling using motivational interviewing and evidence-based education. Addresses client barriers sets achievable goals and refers high-risk participants to a WIC Registered Dietitian as needed. Develops and presents group education materials newsletters and visual displays tailored to client literacy and cultural needs.
Supports community outreach by coordinating off-site clinics maintaining relationships with community partners and vendors and ensuring equitable access to WIC services.
Maintains professional competency through required state trainings continuing education and participation in staff meetings and special projects.
Preferred Qualification : Licensed or Registered Dietary Technician.
