Occupational Therapist (OT) - Full Time, School Based

We're seeking a talented, full-time Occupational Therapist to join our school-based services team in Colorado Springs, CO.

Licensure Requirements (Colorado) :

Candidates must hold a valid Occupational Therapy license through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), which requires graduation from an ACOTE-accredited program, completion of 24 weeks of supervised fieldwork, and passing the NBCOT exam.

Additionally, a Special Services License from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) is required to work in public schools. This includes a bachelor's or higher degree in occupational therapy, a practicum or internship (preferably school-based), and at least 40 hours of direct experience with children ages birth-21 if the practicum was not in a school setting.

What to expect from this role :

Experience working in schools or with children is a plus but not required

Ability to evaluate and treat students, helping them access the school environment, improve academic performance, and develop independence

Serving as a member of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team for students with occupational therapy concerns

Working and building strong relationships with parents, teachers, and school administrators

Facilitating goals and objectives per child's educational plan

Supporting students in developing fine motor skills, sensory integration, and daily living skills

Assisting in developing plans to improve classroom participation and functional school performance

Conducting family training sessions when necessary

Performing other OT duties / responsibilities required by the Program and within the scope of licensure and / or certification

Ensuring all services are performed in accordance with state laws and regulations

As a school-based opportunity, this role requires :

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee must have the ability to move freely throughout school facilities, including classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and therapy spaces.
• The position frequently involves bending, kneeling, crouching, and assisting students at their physical level (e.g., floor activities or adaptive seating).
• The employee may be required to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally assist students with mobility or transfers.
• Vision and hearing abilities must be sufficient to observe student behavior, read printed materials and digital screens, and communicate effectively.
• The employee must be able to maintain visual and auditory attention to ensure student safety and engagement throughout the school day.
• Work is typically performed in a school environment with moderate noise levels and frequent movement between classrooms or buildings.
• The employee may occasionally be exposed to body fluids or communicable diseases while performing job duties and must follow district and company safety protocols.
