Clinical Nurse (RN) – General Surgery/Trauma

Position Summary

/ Career Interest:Full-time, part-time and PRN shifts available. Vareity of days and night options available.

The Clinical Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients. Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population. Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care. Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Unit 51 nursing staff collaborate with trauma, general, and plastic surgery teams in order to provide high quality care to complex medical-surgical patients on this 27 bed unit. The nursing staff use technology, such as telemetry, and have a wealth of resources to provide the most technically advanced care to the patient population served on this unit. Trauma patients receive care for injuries sustained in motor vehicle crashes and falls, as well as injuries related to personal violence. General surgery patients encompass include a wide variety of laparoscopic and open abdomen and bowel procedures. Plastics patients include those in need of complex wound care and wound reconstruction.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

• High School Graduate
• Associate Degree Nursing For ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017, must complete BSN degree by the fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA
• 6 months to 2 years' experience as a Clinical Nurse

Preferred Education and Experience

• Bachelor Degree Nursing

Required Licensure and Certification

• Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing (Kansas) or compact license
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
