Database Administrator
We are seeking a Database Administrator with experience in PostgreSQL databases within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), as well knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server on-prem environment. This role involves comprehensive support for database projects, encompassing design, implementation, and optimization, as well as critical production support to ensure high availability and performance. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for collaborating effectively with third-party vendors and other internal teams to integrate and support database solutions.
Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL Expertise : Proficient in managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Cloud SQL environment. Experience with Cloud SQL administration tasks, including provisioning, configuration, scaling, backup and recovery, and monitoring. Familiarity with PostgreSQL specific features, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in a cloud context.
SQL Server Administration : Knowledge in SQL Server administration, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades. SQL Server performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization. Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for SQL Server (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, log shipping, replication).
Database Design and Development Support : Ability to collaborate with development teams on database schema design, data modeling, and query development best practices. Experience in reviewing and optimizing SQL code for performance and efficiency across both PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
Monitoring and Alerting : Proficiency in setting up and maintaining database monitoring tools and alerts to ensure optimal performance and availability. Experience with tools relevant to both Cloud SQL (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging) and SQL Server. Knowledge of SolarWinds is a plus.
Security and Compliance : Understanding of database security best practices, including user and role management, encryption, and data masking. Knowledge of compliance requirements relevant to healthcare data (e.g., HIPAA) is a significant plus.
Automation and Scripting : Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating routine DBA tasks and deployments. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, Terraform and tools is beneficial.

Pay Range Minimum : $67,500.00
Pay Range Maximum : $126,000.00
Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate's qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
