Job Summary

Registered Nurse I

Under the direct supervision of the Unit Nursing Coordinator the RN I utilizes the Nursing Process to manage patient needs respond to presenting behaviors and support both immediate and long-term health goals. Reacts appropriately to patient care situations and uses clinical knowledge to help guide problem-solving. Practices within all departmental hospital and regulatory standards.

Registered Nurse II

Under the direct supervision of the Unit Nursing Coordinator the RN II utilizes the Nursing Process to manage patient needs and support both immediate and long-term health goals. Responds to patient care situations using clinical knowledge and experience to identify solutions. Practices within all departmental hospital and regulatory standards.

Registered Nurse III

Under the direct supervision of the Unit Nursing Coordinator the RN III utilizes the Nursing Process to manage patient needs and support long-term health outcomes. Anticipates patient care situations and proactively develops solutions using advanced clinical knowledge experience and expertise. Practices within all departmental hospital and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Registered Nurse I

Education :

Graduation from a recognized nursing program with clinical experience across medical surgical obstetrics pediatrics and psychiatric settings.

Experience :

Limited to what is required for RN licensure.

License / Certification :

Current Registered Nurse license.

Special Requirements :

May be required to work additional hours to support patient care and safe staffing levels.

Registered Nurse II

Education :

Graduation from a recognized nursing program with clinical experience across medical surgical obstetrics pediatrics and psychiatric settings.

Experience :

One year of RN experience in a comparable clinical setting.

License / Certification :

Current Registered Nurse license.

Special Requirements :

May be required to work additional hours to support patient care and safe staffing levels.

Registered Nurse III

Education & Experience (Option 1) :

Bachelors degree in nursing human services psychology or related field.

One year of RN experience in a comparable setting.

OR

Education & Experience (Option 2) :

Graduation from a recognized nursing program and an Associates degree in nursing human services psychology or related field.

Two years of RN experience in a residential long-term care nursing home or similar environment.

License / Certification :

Current Registered Nurse license

Current CPR certification

Certification from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized nursing specialty body (e.g. psychiatric / mental health geriatrics maternal / child oncology wound care etc.)

Special Requirements :

Must hold specialty certification appropriate to the jobs responsibilities.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse I

Functions as Nurse-in-Charge in the absence of the Nurse Specialist.

Assigns patient care duties based on needs and acuity.

Provides direct nursing care through assessment planning implementation and evaluation.

Conducts patient assessments on admission and as clinically necessary.

Authorizes emergency Seclusion / Restraint assessments when required.

Performs venipuncture for lab testing as permitted.

Participates in interdisciplinary care planning and implements nursing interventions.

Evaluates treatment effectiveness and documents patient responses.

Supervises subordinate staff to ensure safe delivery of care.

Administers medications and treatments following established standards.

Educates patients and families on care plans medications and routines.

Monitors medical conditions and coordinates with healthcare providers.

Supports daily living activities and milieu management.

Participates in quality improvement and workflow enhancement efforts.

Engages in ongoing professional development.

Registered Nurse II

Includes all RN I responsibilities plus :

Uses additional clinical judgment based on experience when responding to patient care situations.

Monitors care plans more independently and adjusts as appropriate.

Supervises RN subordinates and contributes to staff orientation.

Identifies workflow improvement opportunities and supports implementation.

Plays a more active role in mentoring and guiding support staff.

Registered Nurse III

Includes all RN I & II responsibilities plus :

Anticipates patient care needs and proactively plans solutions.

Identifies and addresses complex treatment-related problems.

Leads quality improvement initiatives and promotes evidence-based practice.

Acts as a clinical expert and role model for less experienced nursing staff.

Provides advanced problem-solving planning and leadership within the unit.

Supervisors Workplace Safety Accountabilities

Maintains competency in safety programs crisis management CPR and AED use.

Conducts periodic on-site safety reviews.

Completes competency-based evaluations.

Provides real-time safety coaching and refers staff for additional training when needed.

Documents safety activities for annual reporting.

Quality Commitment

Exhibits leadership in unit department and hospital-wide initiatives.

Participates in continuous quality improvement processes.

Demonstrates strong customer service and promotes these values among staff.
