IT TECHNICIAN / SPECIALIST

The City of North Kansas City is seeking a skilled and resourceful IT Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives working independently while providing reliable technical support and solutions. This position requires strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering excellent service to city departments. Candidates should be proficient in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Summary of Duties

Work under the supervision of the IT Manager to install and maintain all IT equipment and provide first and second-level support for a variety of computers, tablets, smartphones, peripherals, display and presentation systems, cameras and other network devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support IT related hardware, software, and peripherals for users across all City departments at all city-wide locations;
• Maintain in-vehicle mobile data systems;
• Perform basic network cabling tasks;
• Assist with live streaming of public meetings;
• Manage employee accounts within various software platforms;
• Enforce policies relating to Acceptable Computer Usage;
• Train new employees with procedures and appropriate use of technology equipment;
• Manage mobile device accounts
• Maintain an inventory of equipment, coordinate requests for equipment, and set up equipment on location as needed;
• Coordinate with contractors and with other vendors regarding maintenance of equipment as needed;
• Travel to worksites throughout the City to provide user support;
• Assist with special projects and perform other similar duties as assigned;
