Forensic Lab Supervisor – Quality Control

Job Summary

The Forensic Lab Supervisor – Quality Control provides technical oversight and leadership to non-exempt laboratory personnel across multiple shifts. This role ensures all operations within the forensic lab meet stringent quality and regulatory standards , coordinating workflow across teams and departments. The supervisor also oversees staff development, quality assurance measures, and compliance with federal, CAP, and state inspection standards . Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in all core duties of Forensic Scientist I, II, and III , as well as group lead responsibilities.
• Supervise and direct departmental staff, assigning workloads and prioritizing non-routine procedures.
• Manage personnel functions including hiring, training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions .
• Initiate and monitor quality control measures to ensure all laboratory work meets established standards.
• Perform forensic scientist duties during staff shortages or periods of high workload.
• Oversee the implementation of new instruments, methods, and corrective actions .
• Prepare staff for Federal, CAP, and State inspections and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate the department’s annual competency testing process and documentation.
• Facilitate communication across all shifts and maintain alignment with management teams.
• Represent the department in leadership and interdepartmental meetings .
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
