POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Manager will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, reviewing pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies, employee relations, and practices. The Human Resources Manager utilizes their solid foundational knowledge in HR and exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to execute their responsibilities, while maintaining flexibility to adjust to our fast-growing evolving needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities for this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- May recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications including I-9s, E-Verify, and work authorizations.
- Conducts new hire orientation and manages employee recognition programs.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; policy updates; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Provides benefit administration, enrolling employees in benefits plans, managing changes in coverage, and answering questions regarding insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits. May assist in reconciling monthly benefit information from vendors.
- Collaborates with HR and management teams to develop and implement HR Policies, procedures, and initiatives in accordance with established frameworks, and enforces adherence to policies and procedures
- May assist with payroll administration, including monitoring of time tracking, meal, and rest periods, and ensuring accurate wage categorization and pay calculations.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring to complex and / or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Coaches Supervisors and Managers regarding employee relations matters and attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Focus on California employees and documentation required to be compliant.
- Maintains high levels of confidential information and trust to keep information confidential.
- Facilitates onboarding of new employees and offboarding of employees due to voluntary or involuntary separation.
- Collaborates with on-site leadership in the management of the employee safety program, including employee training, inspections, and incident reporting.
- Manages workers compensation claims, including incident handling and reporting, monitoring of employee work status, modified duty and return to work.
- Handles leave of absence administration and integration with benefits.
- Follows all Quality procedures and complies with required documentation.
- Collects data and information to inform decisions and demonstrates ability to solve problems and provide recommendations to enhance existing programs and processes.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Ability to use HR management systems (BambooHR, Paylocity) to manage employee data and streamline HR processes.
- Works with Payroll to review and update teams organization chart against HRIS chart and provides updated organizational chart on a monthly basis to QA team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
At least 7-10 years of human resource experience is preferred.SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, PHR-CA, PHR, SPHR and / or GPHR a plus.At least 3 years HR experience administering practices in compliance with California labor laws, payroll, and regulations.Bilingual (English / Spanish) including verbal and written communication preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Intermediate Excel experience.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems, experience with BambooHR and / or Paylocity is preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office. The employee may occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
