Summary

The Lower School General Studies Teacher will plan organize and implement the Scheck Hillel instructional program in a primary or elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their individual academic and social-emotional potential. Specifically this position is designed to implement and realize the Scheck Hillel educational vision for students & faculty.

The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset a strong background in education and a genuine love for teaching children.

Students

Responsibilities

• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and encourages student engagement colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective curriculum.
• Plan prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning that meet the needs of all learners.
• Communicate clear learning targets & success criteria to students for all learning activities.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Develop formative and summative assessments in accordance with established procedures.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom to facilitate learning.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students progress and development as required by laws and school policies.
• Communicate consistently and in a timely manner with parents on their childs academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements.
• Maintain safety & security of the students in the classroom and common school areas.
• Supervise students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips school assemblies.
• Attend all parent teacher conferences back to school nights faculty meetings and substitute in one class per week as needed.
• Supervise lunch and recess.
• Support the team with carpool and dismissal procedures.
• Stay up-to-date on current educational trends and research to continually improve teaching practices
