Manager of Data Engineering

Our client is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead our client’s data platform team and drive the evolution of their enterprise-scale streaming data infrastructure. This leader will bring deep technical expertise in Apache Kafka and the Confluent Platform, guiding a talented team while defining the strategic direction for real-time data systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers specializing in streaming technologies.
• Design and implement scalable, event-driven data architectures using the Confluent Platform.
• Establish best practices for stream processing, governance, and platform reliability.
• Oversee performance, capacity, and cost optimization across Kafka clusters.
• Partner with business and technology teams to deliver impactful data solutions.
• Drive modernization initiatives and integrations with platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• 2+ years of people management experience in technical teams.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering with distributed systems.
• Expertise in Confluent Platform, Apache Kafka, Airflow, and PySpark.
• Strong understanding of real-time data processing, event-driven architectures, and performance tuning.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
