As an Infection Preventionist , you’ll serve as a key clinical leader responsible for creating, implementing, and managing evidence-based infection prevention practices throughout the organization. What You’ll Do
Key responsibilities include :
Management
- Coordinate the Infection Control Program across Providence Point and Baptist Homes.
- Maintain public health reporting systems for mandated communicable diseases.
- Track, monitor, and report healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
- Investigate exposures to communicable diseases and blood / body fluids.
- Maintain documentation related to infection control, nosocomial infections, and reportable diseases.
- Collaborate with the Department of Health and other regulatory agencies.
- Participate in mandatory education programs and provide weekend / on-call coverage.
Administrative
Train staff on new and existing infection control policies and procedures.Oversee quality improvement initiatives and competency evaluations related to infection control.Ensure regulatory compliance in Skilled Nursing.Apply evidence-based practices to prevent and control transmission of infectious agents.Participate in the Infection Control Committee and QAPI.Maintain accountability for employee health and safety.Staff Development
Conduct infection control orientation for newly hired nursing staff.Identify departmental training needs and ensure compliance with all licensure and organizational standards.Quality Improvement (CCAC)
Direct the QI plan for infection control and evaluate compliance.Serve as an active member of the facility’s quality improvement program.Professionalism & Customer Service
Maintain confidentiality according to policy.Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, and a commitment to the organization’s mission, standards, and values.Support a culture of wellness for residents and staff.Lead by example and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.Work Schedule
This is a Part-Time Position with flexible daylight hoursRequirements :
Qualifications You Bring Required
Registered Nurse (R.N.) with 3+ years of long-term care experience , including supervisory, staff development, or quality improvement responsibilities.Degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, medical technology, public health, or another healthcare science.Strong interpersonal, communication, training, and analytical skills.Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, technical procedures, and infection control standards.Preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( B.S.N. )Certification in Infection Prevention and Control ( CIC )Perks & Benefits
